Jasion EB7 and X-Hunter Error Codes 21 to 30: What Each One Points To

A plain black cylindrical grip and a black brake lever, each with a short black cable and plug, lying on a light grey surface in front of a window.

Jasion's EB7 and X-Hunter manuals print the same short error code table: 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 30. Each code gets two or three words, and that is all either manual says. This guide sets out what Jasion wrote, which rows of its troubleshooting table touch each code, and where the manual stops and our reading starts.

The table in the manuals

The EB7 manual (version 3, US) prints the table on page 25, beside a diagram of the display that has an ERROR label. The X-Hunter manual (version 2, US) prints the same table on page 21 and says an error icon is shown on the display when a fault is detected. The wording is Jasion's:

  • 21: current issue
  • 22: throttle issue
  • 23: power motor issue
  • 24: power motor signal issue
  • 25: braking handle issue
  • 30: communication issue

Neither manual defines these terms, says what triggers a code, or lists a repair step. The closest the EB7 manual comes is a general troubleshooting table on page 36.

What each code may point to

Everything below is our reading unless we name the EB7 manual's table. We stay at the plug level, since cleaning and repairing connectors is itself a fix the table lists.

  • 21, current issue. The manual gives no further detail and the table has no row for it. The general battery steps it lists are to charge the battery and make sure it is fully seated in its tray.
  • 22, throttle issue. The table lists a loose or damaged throttle as a cause in two rows: irregular acceleration or reduced top speed (fix: replace the throttle) and a motor that does not respond when the bike is powered on (fix: tighten or replace). Start with the throttle plug at the handlebar.
  • 23, power motor issue, and 24, power motor signal issue. The manual does not say how they differ. We read 23 as a problem with the motor or its power wiring and 24 as one with its signal wiring. That is our interpretation, not Jasion's. The row for a motor that does not respond lists loose wiring, a loose or damaged motor plug wire and a damaged motor, with "repair and or reconnect" and "secure or replace" among the fixes.
  • 25, braking handle issue. The table's first row names applied brakes as one reason the bike will not turn on, with "disengage brakes" as the fix. The pre-ride checklist asks you to confirm that the brake levers are firm and the brake and brake light are working. We read code 25 as being about the lever and its wire rather than the pads, so check that both levers spring fully back and nothing pinches the cable.
  • 30, communication issue. The manual does not say what is communicating. We read it as the display and the rest of the electrical system losing contact, which makes the display cable the first connection to check.

Before you unplug anything

Switch the bike off and take the battery out first. The EB7 manual says the battery and key can be removed when the key is in position 3. Its throttle warning applies during any test: if you move the bike while dismounted, make sure it is powered off to prevent accidental application of the throttle. Then reseat the throttle, motor, brake lever and display connections one at a time, checking both halves of each plug for debris, moisture or damage. Our e-bike repair DIY page gives the order we suggest: switch off, remove the battery and wait before unplugging anything.

If the code comes back

If every plug is seated, clean and undamaged and the code returns, the manual's Contact Us page says to contact Jasion about errors or faults with your bike, and it lists a support email and phone number. Nothing in either manual names a part to replace for these codes, so this guide does not say which part is at fault or that any RideRow part fits a Jasion. To narrow a fault down before spending money, the e-bike repair online page has a short self-check and error code tables sorted by display family.

Other Jasion models use different codes

Do not carry a code over from another Jasion model. The Thunder Pro manual lists faults as E60 to E66 and the RetroVolt Pro manual lists E05 to E09. The throttle alone is code 22 on the EB7 and X-Hunter, E61 on the Thunder Pro (worded "turn the handle faulty") and E08 on the RetroVolt Pro, so check the manual for your exact model. For a Heybike, see Heybike error codes E60 to E65, or browse our e-bike spare parts.
